Notes: Eight/Chang Lee/Grace is the endgame pairing, with Eight/Lee and one-sided Lee/Grace prior to that point. It's not in this snippet, but there will be mentions of violence and (probably) explicit sex.
He joined them outside a few minutes later, following the Doctor as he led them to the TARDIS. The blue police box was parked in a side alley much like the one it had landed in back in 1999, except this one had no gang members in it. Their presence was still felt though, and he eyed the various graffiti tags with a mixture of unease and regret. His friends, his brother, even his parents had died at the hands of gang members, and if it hadn’t been for the Doctor, he would have too. He didn’t miss the life, but he did miss all those he loved who were gone because of it.
“Lee?” He turned to find the Doctor standing in the door of the TARDIS, looking curiously at him.
“Ah, sorry. Got lost in thought,” he said, walking over quickly to join him.
“That happens sometimes,” the Doctor said sympathetically, giving him a pat on the shoulder as he went by. Lee took a deep breath and entered the TARDIS, the now-familiar rush of wonder at the sight of the large room beyond helping him to shake off his lingering sadness. Grace was examining the bookshelves along one of the walls, and it was then he noticed that some of the furniture had been re-arranged. Namely, another wing-back chair and table set sat opposite the ones that had been present the last time he was here, making him suspect that the Doctor had picked up another travelling partner after his time with Grace.
