What is a Big Bang?
A Big Bang challenge is where you have four months to write a 25,000 word story. Not an author? No worries, there’s plenty of room for artists, beta readers, alpha readers, and cheerleaders. This Big Bang is specific to Sci-Fi or fantasy based fanfic.
There are some excellent Big Bang comms out there…this is to expand on that, not to infringe on them. I know some sci-fi followings are small and I wanted a chance to put a large collection of sci-fi/fantasy big bang fics together.
What can I write about?
The list a broad. If you’re into movies, you can write about anything from Tron to Lord of the Rings to The Matrix. Maybe you are a anime/cartoon fan, then write a big bang fic for Thundercats to Cowboy Bepop to everything in between. Video games? Sure, bring on the Bioshock or Final Fantasy fic. Is TV your thing? Then write a Star Trek fic or maybe you’ve been itching to write an ALF fic. Want to expand on a book universe? Go for it.
Vampires, aliens, fringe science…all of them fit into the category.

How do I sign up?
Sign ups will start now and will go until June 30th. Right now, since the community is new, the big push is to promote, promote, promote. The more stories/art we have, the better. But, feel free to join the community, even if you can't participate. And don’t forget, PROMOTE!
Timeline:
Now-June 30: Writer/artist sign up
July 1-October 31: Writer sign ups end/Write fic
October 31: Artist sign ups end
November 1: Stories go to Beta/Artists start working on their art
November 15: Beta'd stories go back to author
December 1-15: posting schedule

1. Are crossovers allowed?
Yes. As long as one of the fandoms is rooted in sci-fi/fantasy, crossovers are awesome. Personally, I'm aching for a Star Wars/CSI crossover. :D
2. Can I use a WIP?
Yes, but you still need to write another 25k (more or less) to the story. It's not fair if you only have 500 more words and then sign up for the challenge. Also, no posting additonal parts to your story during the writing period.
3. Can I sign up to be an author and an artist?
Absolutely. :D
4. Can I write a Real Person fic?
Sorry, but this challenge is open to the awesome characters in the sci-fi/fantasy fandom.
5. Can I write a sequel or prequel to a previous fanfic?
Of course!
