1. I hate the idea of Lee trying to change Kara. Its not that I think Kara is perfect I just think that whole scenario is a bad idea for both parties. You can't change the one you love its a cliche for a reason. Its one of the reasons I like her with Sam so much, you see in LDYB2 that she has changed she is never softer than when she was taking care of her husband on New Caprica. The best part of that is that she changed on her own because she wanted too because in the end that's the only kind of change that will stick.
2. Sam forgives her and understands that sometimes when she lashes out its not about him.
3. Sam has never hit Kara. I know the Lee hitting shows equality and Blahblah feminism and all that I just don't think violence and romance are ever meant to mix. Once that line is crossed you can't go back and it becomes that much easier to go there again. Plus there is the fact that while Lee isn't towering over Kara he still has a pretty big advantage in terms of muscle and as we see in Unfinished business he would win in a fair fight. I find I respect Sam more for showing restraint in situations like The Ties that bind where Kara is trying to get Sam to hit her than I do for Lee in the times he has fought back. I don't see anything positive in one partner beating on another no matter how mutual its wrong plain and simple and this isn't just an old fashioned boys shouldn't hit girls reflex either I wouldn't like it if Kevin and Scotty started beating the crap out of each other on Brothers& Sisters as well.
