*Swallows hard, forcing himself to take a breath. Then another. Naomi just had a nightmare. First he has to make sure she's okay. Then he can hunt Adachi down and clobber the man into next year. Of course this dream was a memory. Everything was so clear, it couldn't be anything else.*

Are you okay?

[It's the one question she hates most.]

Yes. [She sits up in her bed, realizing that she won't be able to return to sleep now.] You should know that a dream wouldn't affect me so greatly, Danny.

[phantomfenton]

*Doesn't even blink at her assurance.* Still.

Was it real?

[scientize]

What?

No, of course not. Why would you think that?

[phantomfenton]

... Are you sure it wasn't? *How could it not be? He was so sure... Now it's hard for him to come down from his adrenaline surge. He still wants to hit something. Hard.*

You're sure Adachi's never done anything like that? *Sure, this is Adachi the king of wimps and screwups, but--but the dream... Sure, it'd be way out of character for him, but...*

Well... [She's only so honest because this is Danny and she can see how upset he is.] We do have our fights now and again, but he's never been stupid enough to throw my things around. He knows I wouldn't forgive him for that.

Especially if he were to get coffee stains on the carpet.

*Nods slowly.* Oh.

... Yeah, you wouldn't.

*He didn't exactly approve of the rest of the yelling and insults and whatever, but he's got a more pressing question right now than any attempts to get her to break up.* ... Why were you so nauseous at the end? Are you sick?

[She's taken a little by surprise. It's a simple question, but not exactly one she's been asked since she was younger. She's an adult, after all. Illness is a part of life.]

[phantomfenton]

*And that's practically an invitation, so he repeats,* Are you sick?

*Rubs the back of his neck.* I know something's up. You've been tired and weak, and stuff. I thought it was just some flu, or something, but now...

No. [Her voice softens at the lie, her chin tilting down to look anywhere but his face. After he's been so honest with her about his own problem, how can she lie right to his face? It's not like he's someone who try to give her special treatment.]

Well...That's not completely true.

Then what is true? What's wrong?

[scientize]

...I'm just a little ill.

[phantomfenton]

*She's... lying?*

Right. *She's lying to him, she's keeping secrets, after he's already told her his most closely-kept one. Why doesn't she trust him? Logically, he knows that they're both probably short on sleep from the nightmares, and that she's probably still shaken over hers, and that he shouldn't feel so betrayed. Knowing this doesn't help. It hurts anyway.*

Just a little ill. Nothing--*What did word did she use? For just one second he's too upset to care how biting this probably is,* untreatable?

[She actually shrinks away slightly at that comment, obviously unprepared for something like that from Danny. He knows and he's hurt that she isn't being truthful.]

...I'm more than a little sick, Danny. It isn't something I like to broadcast.

[phantomfenton]

*Notices her shrink away, and a portion of his anger is shunted aside by guilt. Did he just actually say that to Naomi? And after a dream like that? What kind of a jerk is he? Maybe he'd just misjudged the whole thing, maybe she's just tired. Maybe she never thought he'd expect their trust to go both ways. Those aren't exactly comforting thoughts, but they do make him back down a little.*

... Oh. I kind of gathered that second part.
