[Beep. SPLASH.
Cut to Naomi's and Inspector Javert's half-drowned condo, the water level not reaching high enough to reach the ceiling. Javert has carefully located their windows and, like a reckless madman, climbed off his rescue ship and into the apartment. There he wades through, brow furrowed in grim determination, and combs the apartment. Idly, whenever the click of the voicemail turns on in his Dreamberry calling attempts, he hangs up and tries again.
It is just now, however, that he discovers an incessant ringing sound, and a palm-sized object blinking and shining in the water.
With a deep breath and a powerful thrust of his arm, he snatches the object to him and rises back to his feet.
INSPECTOR JAVERT. HUSBAND. He grasps the foreign phone in his left hand, his own in his right. His calm, rock-steady hand, cold and clammy in its soaked leather glove, hits the Receive Call button on the new phone.
His face drains of all expression when the call ticker begins on both phones.
Inspector Javert stiffly turns both devices off and places them in opposite pockets. After a final sweep through all the rooms, discovering no bodies or stray human parts, he rejoins his rescuers and leaves without another word.]
