Busy, busy week

Jun 08, 2009 16:21

I have not been able to keep updated on all the new fangirly, fap-worthy news that is Robsten due to the fact that I had tons of things to do last week. Since I love lists, here is a list of what the hubby and I were up to last week:

1. Tuesday - My daughter's dress rehearsal, where the poor kid had to be in FULL costume and make-up (complete with prerequisite Goldilocks curls). And of course, rehearsal comprised of just running through the routine ONCE. Since my camcorder's battery was totally depleted, I did not get to record my daughter's performance. To add insult to injury, parents are not allowed to videotype or take pics during the actual dance recital so as not to distract the performers. So I was "forced" to buy a DVD copy of the entire dance recital, where during a span of a 3 hour show, she only had a 5 minute performace. But at least the dance recital was better than last years' so it made me feel better about buying it this year (my cheap ass did not buy it last year).

2. Wednesday - this is the day where I LOST my FRIGGIN DNA to make my BLOODY VIRUS! Yeah ... after a week's worth of making more of the DNA and purifying the darn thing ... it falls into a KIMWIPE! And this is was when I am trying to rush through the day so I can make it to my daughter's dance recital that night! More background on this. I just spent a month trying to make a virus out of the wrong DNA fragment/plasmid  (which I just found out about a week ago). So I was trying to make up for lost time by speeding up the process of making a virus out the correct DNA fragment. So I've already labored on this darn thing for quite a while. And then it ends up like this .... when all I am trying to do is rush home to see my daughter perform and be a good mom (especially since I still had to do her hair and make-up before the performance). I just lost it that night. I drove CRYING the entire way home, feeling stupid, questioning my place in the science world, and wondering why the heck I went down this path in the first place. And I felt that no matter how 'well" I tried to be the best in my field, it's never going to be enough.

Anyway, after the dance recital, my daughter wanted us to eat out for dinner. So we did. And by the time everything was said and done, it was already midnight and I still needed to go back to work to redo making the virus. Good thing my parents were able to watch my daughter. And of course my sweet, sweet hubby wouldn't let me go back to work by myself. So he drove with me back to my lab and took a nap on my bench while I did about an hours' worth of work. Then, since his friend (one of our groomsmen) works the night shift security in our university, we visited him and talked with him for another 30 minutes.  So we didn't get home until 3:00 am that morning, and he had to go to work at 8 am. So both of us were virtually zombies.

3. Thursday - Worked all day and then saw Jeff Dunham at Cape Girardeau that night. I love that man! He is one of the few comedy acts that I will pay good money to see live. Cape is about a 2 hour drive from our place. So we drove 2 hours to see "The Guitar Guy" do a 30-45 min warm-up act and Jeff Dunham do a 2-hour show. Since Cape is a college town, I guess he was testing his new material on us before he went to the "BIG" shows. So it was fun. We got to hear his new (really good) stuff. And he seemed more laid back during the performance, which improved it for me quite a bit. Due to the long drive, we got home around 1 am. Another night where we end up dead.

4. Friday - Th hubby and I crashed ... duh!

5. Saturday - Went to lab to work for an hour or so, then went to a friend's wedding at 11 am. After the wedding, I organized our coat closet (which was a total disaster), my clothes closet (where got rid of some stuff that made me go "What the hell was I thinking?"), and my clothes drawer. The husband got off work around  5 pm so we were able to go together to my friend's corresponding 6 pm reception. We left as soon as the dollar dances were over though. The food was only so-so and the DJ sucked ... hehehehe.

6. Sunday - Went to a close friend's commitment ceremony 3 hours away from where we live. Their commitment ceremony touched me so much, coz I know how much they love each other and how committed they are to each other. The officiant (one of the guys' dads) kept on saying how they say that a man's signature is useless if he keeps his word. And I believe him. Gay marriage may not be legal in Missouri,  and they may not have signed a piece of paper, but I know those two ARE MARRIED! With all of my heart. This wedding felt more heartfelt than the wedding I attended Saturday, for some weird reason. And I got to see the Pinoy mafia, who are so much fun to hang out with.

Afterwards, we drove back to the city to see "Rent" at the Fox Theater. So appropriate, I know. I have never seen it on stage so it was quiite a treat. And of course I cried when Angel died and when I though Mimi was going to die. The second act of that musical is so powerful. And so again, we didn't get home until 12 pm.

7. Monday - Organized our bathroom closet (I know, I am all about organizing our home closets lately) then came to work. Which was good since I got all of the tasks I wanted done in the lab today done, and I found out MY BLOODY VIRUS WORKS! Yay! And we get to go food shopping tonight (I am soo female, any type of shopping, I am so for it).

And that was our week. Good thing I got to read Lindsey and Hayley's fanfic this morning (such a nice way to wake up!). And I am still cracking up about Rob's bromance. The end (for now).

Next week, the hubby and I are invading Mary in Cleveland, coz Cleveland rocks, you know? So we're going to be dead after this coming weekend too!

lentivirus, jeff dunham, iz ded, wedding, awesome hubbies, commitment ceremonies, caffeine is my friend, gay marriage, rent, dance rehearsal, busy week, dance recital
