After his talk with Samantha, Rodney felt... not better exactly, but maybe a little braver. Just a little. Enough that he no longer wanted to run screaming into the jungle, never to return, anyways.
This wasn't his fault, or Jill's, or anyone's really, but that didn't change the fact that he needed to take responsibility. He needed to be there for her, even if he couldn't do much else.
He just didn't know what he'd do if that still wasn't enough.
He'd waffled over it for a day, but then he'd gone and picked some flowers - and thrown them away after he'd started sneezing uncontrollably. A second attempt yielded slightly better results with a nice bouquet of daisies, which would have to do since they seemed to be the only flower on the island he wasn't allergic to. After that, he'd smoothed his hair as best he could and headed to Jill's hut.
Once he was actually standing on the doorstep, he hesitated. The nervousness was even worse than what he'd experienced on their first date. A baby had been the last thing on his mind back then.
Oh, well. Nothing for it now, he supposed.
Sighing, he lifted his fist and knocked on the door.
