The amount of file-swapping that had gone on between Rodney McKay and Carson Beckett was ridiculous. Rodney had never been a great team player, but it was Carson, and dare he think it - he was the only other person on the island he trusted with this sort of thing

Ever since talking to him a few days prior, Carson had been nervously waiting for Rodney to look over his most recent translation again. He'd done everything he could think of to busy himself in the infirmary, and he'd even found a few medical books on the bookshelf that he hadn't come across before and had spent some time flipping through them.

In fact, that's exactly what he was doing when Rodney burst into the clinic unannounced, shoving his tablet in Carson's face.

"...so it's what I suspected." Carson said, and the color nearly drained from his face.

"It's about the Athosians, isn't it?" he asked, his expression grim.

"Tell me what it means."

Carson sighed, not wanting to say the words out lout, for fear they'd make everything more real somehow.

"He's used a modified version of the Hoffan drug," Carson said, "And created some sort of....hybrid creature out of the Athosians. Something not quite wraith and not quite human. Quite a bit like Michael, actually."

His mouth flattened into a thin line.

"Like Frankenstein making an army of little mini Frankensteins," Rodney said darkly. He passed a hand over his mouth, feeling as if he wanted to throw up, but he hadn't had breakfast yet so he couldn't. He wondered, briefly, if there were pancakes this morning, but this was no time to think about food.

"This is why those computers showed up outside of Teyla's hut, isn't it." It wasn't really a question. "Her people..."

She wasn't going to take this well.
