Week 4: Day 1

Jan 29, 2013 16:15

This past weekend was rad for studying; I got 5 hours done on Saturday night and 4 hours done on Sunday night. Though it took me 6 hours each day to get started, I found it easy to "get into the groove" when I set my interval timer. Study for 1 hour, break for 10 minutes. I didn't doddle because I wanted to get as much done in that hour as possible, knowing that I would get a break soon!

I got started on my first paper, due Sunday night. It's really short (3-4 pages double-spaced) and it's for my Human Growth and Development class. I have to write about teratogens, defining what they are and also give two examples, what they cause etc. I am choosing one infectious disease (herpes simplex virus) and a drug, isotretinoin, because when I was on it last year, there were all kinds of "don't even think about getting pregnant on this" warnings all over the packaging. So of course now I'm curious what happens!

I'm actually enjoying anatomy now that I've been able to find some trends. For example, all muscles that insert into the intertubercular groove of the humerus bring about medial rotation at the shoulder joint. And all muscles that insert into the greater tubercle of the humerus bring about lateral rotation at the shoulder joint.
This is great because I could never remember insertions or origins to save my life!!

Psychology of Work was awesome, we watched a ted talk about motivation. Look up "Dan Pink - motivation". I promise it's worth the 20 minutes!!

countdown to freedom
