My pissy letter to Translink

Jan 03, 2009 04:27

I was waiting to catch the 11:21pm going east bound, and I arrived at 11:18pm according to my watch. One did not come by, so I figured perhaps it was early and I missed it. Remembering checking the schedule at home, and then verifying it with texting with my cell phone, there should have been a bus at 11:41pm.

No bus came by. There was also supposed to be a bus at 12:01am, and also, no bus came by, except for the 601, 351, 17, 10, and 98; all the other buses which stop there and were running at the time of night. I realize that it was a holiday schedule, but seeing as there was a schedule, and seeing as the roads were bare, and seeing as three 16s in the west bound direction passed by me, I have no reason to believe that I should have waited that long for any reason. I eventually caught a $20 cab to where I was going because I couldn't feel my toes anymore. A little difficult for me being a student on loans, no help from parents, and working part time.

Even worse was when I asked one of the drivers of the 98 if he'd heard anything about why I hadn't seen a bus in nearly an hour, he said there were no messages sent to the driver's network alerting of any problems. I knew the buses were on holiday schedules, but seeing as it was nearly 24 hours after New Year's Eve and all the other buses seemed to be adhering to their adjusted schedules, why was the bus I needed to take not showing up? I'm well aware that there is a bus shortage, but I can't see any reason whatsoever why 3 buses should have not come by during that time. Or at the very least, 2.

I sincerely hope this problem is fixed soon otherwise the whole world will be very upset with the GVRD's transit service when the Olympics arrive.

(I only realized I sounded redundant after I'd already sent it, but hey, it's 4:30am! I don't get really angry that much, but I was seriously ready to stab someone at that moment. Good thing my cab driver was awesome, I tipped him $3!! I also really hate that I can't ride my bike over ice; especially since I already know 2 friends that have bailed and messed up their wrists, and I don't like breaking/tearing things so much...)
