There have been numerous mentions on the network that these curses repeat the Old Testament's biblical plagues. I would concur with such a statement, based on the text in question and previously established theme of the deities in drawing from our various worlds and their lore when it comes to visiting such things upon us.
❝This is what the LORD says: By this you will know that I am the LORD: With the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water of the Nile, and it will be changed into blood. The fish in the Nile will die, and the river will stink; the Egyptians will not be able to drink its water.❞
- Exodus 7:17-18
❝This is what the great LORD says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me. If you refuse to let them go, I will plague your whole country with frogs. The Nile will teem with frogs. They will come up into your palace and your bedroom and onto your bed, into the houses of your officials and on your people, and into your ovens and kneading troughs. The frogs will go up on you and your people and all your officials.❞

However, while the comparison is without doubt present, it is not a literal recreation. While interpreting the religious texts of the human world is not my area of expertise, it is still a fact that the supposed original took place over a much longer period of time, as well as in distinct separate occurrences. Unlike the original model, you may notice that while the plague themes remain the same, they have been overlapped with one another.
Another obvious parallel is the sudden influx of sheep, untouched by the aforementioned plagues. If one believes that this sequence will continue past where it has reached at this moment, the swarm of locusts, then to come would be the death of the first born child. The lambs have been provided, seeing as
❝The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.❞

However.
I must caution those who would blindly follow such advice. I cannot espouse either the use of blood or the choice not to use that which has been provided. I am indeed wary that it has been provided us. That it has could be kindness or mercy on part of the deities, or an intended cruel joke.
I merely advise that you weigh the choices carefully if you are a "first-born child".
