Sugar-free American apple pie

Today I baked a sugar-free apple pie. I wanted to see if using only splenda would make a difference.

Recipe for Sugar-free American apple pie

Ingredients:
8oz plain flour
4oz butter
Water
2tbsp Splenda
3 Bramley apples
2 tbsp Splenda Brown Sugar Blend
1 tsp cinnamon

Method:
Preheat oven to 190ºC.
Mix flour and Splenda in a bowl, rub in butter finely. Add water to make shortcrust pastry dough, just enough that the dough will not flake. Roll out to about 1/4 inch thickness and cut around a plate of larger diameter than the pie dish. Oil the pie dish lightly, place pastry base inside and trim pastry around edge of dish.
Peel and core the apples. Dice two of them, and put them in a pan with about 1/3 cup of water, the Brown Sugar Blend and the cinnamon. Simmer until the apples are soft and starting to go syrupy, then pour into pie dish and smooth. Cut the other apple into thin half-circles and lay slices around in a fan, spiraling in toward the middle of the pie, over the stewed apples. Cover with strips of pastry in a lattice, sprinkle a little more Brown Sugar Blend over the top. Bake for 30-40 minutes, remove from oven and lightly dust with cinnamon. Serve warm with whipped cream.

I am an ARTIST with whipped cream.

Comments:
My father didn't believe me at first when I said the pie had no sugar in it. It was completely impossible to taste the difference. He also said that it tasted like the pies his mother used to make; I feel I really accomplished something with this pie. The addition of the sliced apples on the top layer was a great success. Delicious, sugar-free American apple pie!
