Even as a child, Arthur didn't often have the urge to hug others. It wasn't that he disliked people, per say, but physical contact had always seemed like such an intimate thing to him. Certainly not something you went around doing with classmates you barely knew, or adults, and especially not girls. His mother and sister didn't count, of course; they were family, so it was okay to do those sort of things with them. Just like it was okay to sometimes, when he'd had a nightmare, to sneak into his sisters room so she could comfort him. She was very good at that, being much older.
