ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER
GENERAL
[Name:] Ema Skye
[Age:] 23
[Gender:] Female
[Marital Status:] Married to science, if that counts...
[Sexuality:] Considering that science is her first love, true love, and only love, it's hard to say, really.
[Occupation:] Fresh graduate of Forensic Studies in the UK, with a specialisation in forensic pathology and toxicology. She studied Chemistry and English as her minors.
CONNECTIONS
[Family:]
Lana Skye: Pretty much Ema's only living relative left. Since Lana brought Ema up ever since their parents died in a car accident, the two sisters are very close. There was a period of time when Lana grew cold and distant to Ema, after the SL-9 incident. The wedge that drove them apart was removed thanks to one Phoenix Wright, but they barely had time to repair their relationship before Ema left to study Forensic Science in the UK. They keep in touch often, though, through the wonders of the internet. Sometimes, Ema thinks her sister tries to hard to fill the role of Ema's mother, and though that exasperates her (especially when her sister spoils her fun), she loves Lana for it.
[Friends:] Living in the UK was boring and lonely for Ema, since most of her friends, and not to mention her dearest sister, were not there. Now that she's back, though, she's eager to make new friends, and catch up on old acquaintances!
Phoenix Wright: Ema feels a little indebted to this man for his role in repairing the damage between her sister and herself, and hopes to repay him one day. Of course, Ema's heard of him getting disbarred and all, and finds it hard to believe that a man can change within seven years.
Miles Edgeworth: Ema blushes when she remembers how much of a fangirl she was for "Mr. Edgeworth". That is not to say, however, that she isn't fond of him anymore. She still hopes to work with him when/if she joins the Forensic department.
Jake Marshall: Though Ema didn't like Jake when they first met, she eventually took a liking to the easy-going detective (as he was then). It can be said that Ema looks up to Jake as a sort of caring big brother. Ema likes his carefree demeanour, and also the way he allows her more freedom than Lana.
[Enemies:] Just one: the creep, Damon Gant. But he's in a place where he can mess around with the Skye sisters never more, so Ema's trying to learn to put the past behind her.
[Other:]
Maya Fey: Ema's heard lots about the medium from Phoenix, and though they do not have a deep relationship, Ema is deeply intrigued by the whole affair of channelling the dead, especially since it's a technique that works without any apparent scientific explanation. Now that she's back in America, she hopes to deepen her acquaintance with the Master of Kurain.
CHARACTER
[General personality:] Ema's very much a single-minded girl. To her, the world can be classified into two categories: scientific, and everything else. The two categories are also tagged "fun" and "boring" respectively.
Needless to say, her favourite reading materials are science journals. She listens to all genres of music: acoustic physics is one of her fields of interest. One of Ema's hobbies is cooking (food chemistry is another field of interest). The food she cooks usually doesn't turn out very edible, though.
Ema prefers to interact with intellectual people; in other words, people who can understand her when she talks about science-y stuff. She gets irritated and grumpy when she has to explain herself to idiots. She also tend towards the serious side, and frowns upon too much casual joking and clowning around.
Ema has a dream to be a forensic scientist. Having recently graduated with an honours degree in Forensic Studies, she considers herself one step closer to her goal. She has yet to take the proficiency test, however.
[Appearance:] Well, you all know what she looks like in GS4! Same old lab coat as always; it's her favourite piece of clothing, the pink glasses being a close second. She's also kept the pink newsboy cap (ala GK) from her student days.
[Background:] Ema was brought up by her sister Lana ever since her parents died. Because they had no one else but each other, the sisters were very close, relying on each other for almost everything.
That changed after the SL-9 incident, however. Ema assumed that the sudden distance between herself and her sister was brought about by the latter's sudden promotion to Chief Prosecutor. Ema convinced herself to be happy about her sister's promotion, and that the relationship between the sisters would re-establish itself once her sister had gotten used to her new position and duties.
It never did, however, until two years later, when Lana was put on trial for the murder of Bruce Goodman. During this time, when Ema had no one to turn to, Phoenix Wright chose to believe in her and her sister, and even managed to prove Lana's innocence in court. In doing so, Phoenix also removed the obstacle in the Skye sister's relationship, allowing them to enjoy a closeness akin to their pre-SL-9 days.
Not long after, however, Ema left for Europe to study forensics. She has only just graduated from university with an honours degree in Forensic Studies, and is preparing to take her proficiency test to join the LA Police Forensic Department.
