If you want a new laptop, buy a new laptop...but you should be able to buy a replacement keyboard pretty cheap (I've done that for a couple of dells, I think they were around $20 apiece at the time). If a USB or wireless keyboard and mouse will work for you they are pretty superior anyway, but won't work when you're roving.
i was about to remark that you should talk to elieastarteljbJuly 6 2009, 15:59:20 UTC
because he is the king of dell deals. he has also sent back several netbooks because of lack of power. because of our cats I have a nice laptop, and i use a wireless usb kybd with it because i've had the cats throw up on my kybd, make me dump cereal on kybds etc. But we've also gotten fantastic deals on laptops because Elie watches the rates like my grandmother and CD prices.
Laptop keyboards can be replaced pretty easily if you know what you're doing - the IT department @ work did that for me once, took about 15 minutes. I imagine it takes a while longer if you don't know what you're doing, but still :p
I can't imagine using a netbook as a primary computer, myself, but that depends on what you'd be doing with it.

I'm not sure what type of laptop you have.. but keyboard replacement does not seem that bad.
