Another Harry Potter fic rec for all of you (again, I haven't finished it, but it is more amazing then the last one) -
http://www.sugarquill.net/read.php?storyid=2339&chapno=1 Takes place during OotP and is from Remus' point of view - which is masterfully done. The premise of it is that, during this time, Lupin has been assigned to oversee Dudley Dursley...which he does through teaching Muggle history at Smeltings.
It beautifully chronicles not only his own conflicts with his desire to teach and his inability to do so (due to Umbridge and "health" concerns) within the Wizarding World. It also deals masterfully with the whole Tonks/Remus affair that HBP kind of drops there as if it was obvious (I, personally, was all for the angsty tragic love of Tonks/Sirius...I think
greywing is rubbing off on my in strange ways...). Finally, the Sirius in this...oh Sirius...just breaks my heart. The fic really just cuts to the quick with all of the repressed rage that seethes through Harry's shorter encounters with him throughout OotP. And since it is from Lupin's POV, you really get a sense of haunting perspective that just hurts so...good (but not good...more like a leaden weight in your stomach which I totally appreciate on a totally artistic level).
And the writing is finessed and wonderfully descriptive and gorgeous. (I'm learning new words! Happiness!)
Go! Read! NOW!
...I really need some Sirius and Snape icons. ;_;
