"Your Silliness Has Been Noted."

Alright, the world is winding itself up a bit.

I have exactly four more days of student teaching and an interview possibility up north. I'm gonna miss my students and my school a lot. :(

I "graduated" from my credential program. Everyone winced their collective way through my program coordinator's exemplary speech. It is good when she starts out, "I know some of you think I was hard on you..." No, no....you don't really want to know what I think. You really don't.

What made it really LOLtastic (tm) was the fact that she then made an extended metaphor comparing herself to...Jesus. No, you didn't read that wrong...Jesus. She was our shepherd and yet we were left wanting. (And at this point, my friend turned to me and went "Baa! Baa!" and I almost completely and utterly lost it. Yes, I was almost the girl who cracked up completely and totally during the graduation speech.) Ah hubris...so amusing.

Watched The Dark Knight at long last. I thought it was a decent movie...Heath Ledger being amazingly creepy and awesome. Christian Bale's Batman Voice seemed to be inadvertently amusing and I could figure out parts of the plot waaaaay earlier than I was supposed to. Also, Alfred and Lucius were by far the most interesting characters.

"The Delusionist" got nominated for an Hourglass...count me surprised! This is not the one I would have picked, but this is usual with my fic. :) I really am excited about the nomination!

AND BOOKS! I HAVE TIME TO READ BOOKS:

The Hour of Spring - Mary Deasy
Old Irish-American women's fiction that was a bit awesome with a lovely, complex narrative dance that relates a sprawling family saga. It took me a bit to get a hold of, but it was well worth it. I kind of want to write essays on it and The Parish and the Hill...

The Glass Menagerie - Tennessee Williams
I had seen this "performed" by the AP senior class I observe in, but thought it better to read myself. I thought the last scene was a excellent, but it's not my favorite piece of drama ever.

Gilead - Marilyn Robinson
READ IT! READ IT! READ IT! Robinson's prose is subtle and beautiful and philosophical and...I can't say enough. I received her first novel, Housekeeping, as a gift from a professor and loved it so much that I borrowed this from a family friend. I simply had to sit there and read the whole thing all day yesterday and this morning. Then I immediately went out to get the sequel to it. So, READ IT! :)

Ah! Fun. :)
