Nothing Shatters, Nothing Breaks, Nothing Hurts, and Nothing Aches
I come with Doctor Who fic rec.

My Two Cents: I am unabashedly fascinated by the Time War. And this tells it in a way that makes me want to cry and rewind and make everything better again. And fic never does that to me because I have a heart of STONE AND LEAD...well, mostly.
Even if you don't have knowledge of most Classic Who Doctors (I have not seen either Seven or Eight in action, but I am fairly familiar with Four), this is...simply amazing. It takes hints of canon that we have and puts them through Romana's point of view so beautifully that it, well, hurts. Especially since you know what will happen in the end.
It also makes so many observations about the Doctor's character in its entire continuous sense (rather than in its disparate incarnations) that are insightful and a bit horrid. Also wins points for being the first thing to make me absolutely terrified of Daleks (I usually have an irrational desire to hug them...even in canon. I don't know why). This has consequences and they are horrific.
Here is where the title comes from, just to give you a hint of the horrid fascination this fic has:
"He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.
And if you gaze too long into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."

Um, in a word, brilliant. Go read. Even if you know very little and are just fascinated about the Time War. Have some tissue and chocolate with you because it really feels like it is part of canon, which is an exemplary compliment if there ever was one.
And Wall Street is fail.
