Whirleyball continued...

Okay so Whirleyball is freaking awesome! The PTs, OTs, and Ex Phys decided we needed to get together for a little fun outside of work. Brittany picked whirleyball. I'd never heard of it and was a little sketchy when I found out it was going to cost me $20 for one hour of play. I decided I'd go anyway and invited Chris, too.

So we get there and are on time, while everyone else was way late but we had a chance to watch some other people play and are reading the rules that are posted and whatnot.  Basically, it's...well, imagine sitting in a bumper car (a.k.a. WhirleyBug) minus the little bar that goes up to the ceiling, now get rid of your steering wheel and replace it with a crank.  Now, if you want to go right you have to turn your crank left and if you want to go left you have to turn your crank right and when you want to turn around you have to turn it a half turn.  Good, now put a little lacrosse wand thingy in your hand and then put a whiffle ball inside that.  Then, pass the little whiffle ball around to your 4 other teammates and try to shoot it at a "basketball net".  Don't forget to let your foot off the accelerator as you approach the wall...brake?  What brake?  There are NO brakes!  Now, when you forget about your foot and the accelerator brace yourself for you are about to fly into the wall at full speed.  Now, imagine there are 9 other people on this court with you who have never done this before and you're all trying to figure it out, then laugh hysterically to the point of almost wetting yourself because your WhirleyBug is outta control and nobody can figure out which way is what and how to toss the ball to their teammates.  Now, do you understand what I mean when I say it is freaking awesome?  Even if you don't its okay, because you can easily experience the madness for yourself!

You can check out my Yahoo photos...I've posted a few pics there.  And I'll have to post the picture of the nifty bruise I have on my thigh from slamming into the crank when I slammed into the wall...very sweet!  I must tell you though, you should expect to take a few tylenol before you go to bed to counter attack the feelings in the morning like you just got rear-ended by a semi!

Hope you enjoyed that story as much as I did reminiscing about it!
