So I realize it's been awhile, but what can I say, I'm a busy girl!
Two weekends ago, Chris and I went down to Champaign for Scott & Katie's wedding...great wedding but the weekend in general wasn't so hot. Chris ended up getting mega stomach flu or something and I had a severe wardrobe malfunction. Basically, my boobs are so friggin big now that as I was getting into the car to go to the ceremony my top decided to split in the back -- zipper, not fabric. So I managed to get through the ceremony and then Chris' parents drove me to Wal-Mart so I could grab like every semi-formal looking black top off the shelves and make it to the reception like 10 minutes late. I caught my 2nd bouquet, would've been my 3rd but Phyl overshot at her wedding :-)
Last weekend Kate came for a short but much needed visit. Much needed on my part because I finally made some real progress on cleaning up my rat hole. It was still pretty messy but much better than before. We met up with Sandra for dinner at Sweet Tomatoes...yummm! Very crowded, would never go back on a Friday night. Oh yeah.... CONGRATULATIONS TO SANDRA AND DAVE on their engagement!! On Valentine's Day even, how sweet!
Sunday my great-great-aunt came to visit for the very last time, ever. She had been real sick a few weeks back, she had pneumonia and was on O2 and was strapped into a hospital bed, it was horrible seeing her like that. But she has since recovered and is well and looking much better. She leaves tomorrow for the Philippines, her homeland. We were sitting around Sunday all talking about how long ago she came to the States and figured out that she came here in March of 1982. And in December '82/January '83 she started baby-sitting me for the next 4 years until I went to pre-k. I will treasure those memories forever. I feel so lucky to have had the intergenerational and cultural bond that I had with her. Essentially, she knows that she will pass away (she's 87 now) and wants to return to her beginnings. I really can't believe she is leaving. Her daughter, whom I consider my 40-something yr. old cousin (really my 3rd cousin) said something about how she won't be here for my wedding...that stung a little. For as long as I can remember, she has always been a tiny, frail-looking woman but as I got older and saw her less and less she would hug me so tight I thought my organs might bruise. She is awesome and great and I will miss her immensely.
In other more happy news, my car still rocks! I have my remote start in it now and that makes it even better. Which reminds me, you are probably wondering what I got for Valentine's Day!
Well, probably not, but too bad, you're the one reading this. Chris paid for my remote starter. I wanted to split it with him but he is a stubborn doody and wouldn't let me. Then, while we're chillin in his room waiting for dinner to be ready (I know we're real exciting), he runs downstairs and returns with 3 dozen roses! I was shocked...his reasoning was that he couldn't decide which color was the best so he got all 3. Yellow with orange tips, bright fuchsia, and pale pink. I insisted that we give a dozen to his mom for rocking so much and that there was no way I'd have room anywhere for 3 dozen. I must add that they smelled incredible! And to top it all off I got my most favorite present of all...a homemade Valentine. They really are the best things ever. If that was all he gave me for any holiday for the rest of my life, I would be more content than I already am.
Oh man, for all of you who have been telling me how badly I needed to watch The Notebook, well you were right! I totally loved it! I remember seeing James Marsden's name in the opening credits and that got me excited. He used to be on this wanna-be 7th Heaven show way back in the day and I remember thinking how hot he was and then I was introduced to the guy who played Noah and he was gorgeous but besides all that I thought the story was awesome and can't wait to buy it on DVD! Awesome, awesome, awesome! I was able to keep my composure, for the most part, all the way up until she went back home to visit Noah. Then after that I kinda lost it and was doing really well until I called Chris to say goodnight. What we've got is such a blessing. 'nuf said.
So that pretty much concludes things for now. If you feel that I'm forgetting something feel free to drop me a comment. PEACE!
