The Second Flight - [Action]

Nov 22, 2010 11:02

[It was a normal day, everything seemed right in the world as Terry McGinnis woke up in House 46. He went about his morning routine: grabbing a quick shower, brushing out spiked mass of cropped short hair, pouring a bowl of whatever cereal he could find in the pantry, and then getting dressed in his street clothes that were strewn about the room, ( Read more... )

[This village is a strange, strange place. Rogue is out of her strangely uncomfortable house, walking around and gawking, so far unaffected. She's had some prep by grabbing a long-term resident's memories but nothing prepared her for--]

What the heck?

[Did someone just scramble over the edge of the next house? Such suspicious activity must be investigated.]

[Damn, hands almost slipped that time. Terry quickly pulled himself up over onto the rooftop of the house, his shoes finding footing on the wall easily enough. He rolled onto the roof and sat panting, a grin on his face. It was a rush, always was and always would be. He leaned back against a vent duct as he looked out towards the rooftop horizon.

Treetops...it had been a while since he had seen those in anything other than archive vids. Despite this village's small size, it had a nice flow to it. Even more so, a lot less cops. He let his head lean back against the aluminum and felt his eyes drift closed. It was a sweet little town.]

[Rogue approaches the house and stares up at the roof, pondering her next move.

Well, she was trained by Wolverine and she probably could scramble up there... but whoever it was would know she was coming long before she got up there. So why bother? She drawls out some sarcasm instead.]

Most people take their naps inside their houses. That is your house, right?

[Whowassat? He peered over the edge of the roof to the source of the southern drawl and smirked. An accent not too different from Toad's answered her:] An' what if it ain't? Who's gonna stop me, you?

[Oh great. Another thug.]

From taking a nap on top of someone's house? Sorry, [Except not at all] but I've got better thing to do with my time.

[...except she also... doesn't. So even though she'll be starting to walk away, she won't be going too far.]

[Aww, dammit. He hated making chicks angry at him. He jumped silently down the fire escape, stopping just next to her while holding himself "sitting" on the side of the railing.] 'Ey, sorry 'bout that. Think we got off on da' wrong foot 'dere. Name's Terry.

Nah, I'm pretty sure it was the right one. [Well, at least he's off the house now. She glances over at him, eyes widening slightly as she takes in that hoodie. She likes the design on the sleeves. And that's enough to make her pause - along with the way he's holding himself on the railing.] That's why I was leaving.

C'mon, it's not like I was gonna break into da' place or somethin'. Jus' how people in my line a' work get around, y'know?

[Oh, that reassurance is so very reassuring. Her hands go to her hips and she turns to face him fully.]

And just what is your 'line of work.'

[Fluidly, with one hand still holding him onto the railing, he pulls his single-strap bag off his back and holds it out.] Messenger of sorts. Someone needs stuff sent somewhere in the city, they go to us runners to deliver it. No one knows the rooftops an' flow of da' town betta' 'dan us.

[She finds this both acceptable and odd, and frankly is more impressed with the kind of balance she only usually sees with Kurt or Dr. McCoy.]

Well I don't know if you've noticed, but we ain't exactly in the city now. If you keep doing stuff like that around here, people are bound to get ideas.

[That is likely the closest thing to an apology he's going to get. It is also known as 'giving a person enough rope to hang themselves.']

Old habits die hard, y'know? 'Sides, someone 'round 'ere's gonna have need for a messenger like me eventually. [He slung the bag back on and hopped to the ground, bouncing lightly with the impact before rising to his feet.] How 'bout you, been in 'Ceti long?

[She glances away, reaching up to tuck a persistent strand of hair behind her ear.]

Just a few days. But it feels like longer.

[Longer like ya wouldn't believe.]

[Pinged by demons. And also a distinct memory of being murdered by one, thank you Vash.]

Does that stuff happen a lot here?
