Well that was a close one. I wasn’t sure if I was gonna be able to get myself to write today.
I didn’t sleep well again last night, so I’ve been kind of out of it all day. But I watched some more of Season One and that got me going. Mostly because one of the episodes had the scene that originally got me addicted to the show, Zuko and Zhao’s Agni Kai.
Way, way, way back when Avatar was first airing, this was the episode that caught my interest. Aside from Aang going ballistic at the Air Temple, the fight between Zuko and Zhao just sold me. I love that one move Zuko does at the start of the match, where he spins three times and launches a blast on each one. I know, it sounds silly, but I just love the movement of that technique.
Then of course there’s the rest of the fight and they dynamic offense and defense both characters use. I just love the whole style of firebending, earthbending is probably my element and I do like it more, but all the bending styles just have such absolutely gorgeous movement.
Anyways, enough of me geeking out over the martial arts. Current word counts?

The scene I worked on today was (giant surprise coming up), the Agni Kai and the interactions that led up to it. It was tough getting started, but once I got going it actually wrote itself. I’m really pleased at how my AU versions of the characters took on their own vibes for the scene. It felt like a nice mix of canon and AU. It still needs to be cleaned up of course, but I feel better about it than some of the other scenes so far.
Hopefully that’s a good sign for what’s to come.
I might even write more tonight, I haven’t decided yet. If I do it will be for other projects.
Thanks for checking in. XD
P.S. I know the title of this post is silly, I get silly when I’m sleepy. Would you prefer grumpy?
