Loved the first book, was bored to tears by book 4. YMMV.

I seem to be one of the few people I know who really hated that book. He's a good writer but the story and characters made me so angry that I ended up throwing the book, and it was a book someone had loaned me so I immediately retrieved it and gave it back before I felt the need to throw it again.

Huh. Interesting. I am only one chap in. So far I love Jon snow. See I hated the wheele of time books, wondering if I will feel the sane way with this one. So there was no one you liked?

Around the same time his deposed prince character 'reached under the rough sackcloth of (his own sister's) shift and cruelly squeezed the tender nipple, causing her to cry out in pain' is about when I hurled the book from me (the second time) in disgust.

it's not so much a fantasy series as documentation of his personal sexual perversions.

Also i tried counting the times he uses the word 'cock.'

There were too many cocks to count.

I would rather hammer a steel bolt into my dick than read one more word of that guy's writing.

Adding, I have read all the books.

It's not worth your time.

It's definitely a dark fantasy. I got through book two, and just couldn't do book three. The writing's good, but it's so depressing...at the end of every chapter, bad things keep happening to these good people. Just when you think it can't get any worse, you hit the end of a chapter, and you're just: "Oh God...Oh no...Holy shit..."

I just couldn't read anymore. Too depressing.

HBO is currently working on a TV series based on the books, though.
