What Do You Have To Say? - My Sixth Grade Jam

Jan 19, 2008 11:23

My favorite song in sixth grade. That's interesting. Hm, I think it was something like Holiday by Green Day. I've changed so much in the past two years. Haha. Holiday is a song that shaped me in a ton of different ways. It gave me a feeling of independence; the feeling that my musical tastes were much different than most around me. I wasn't listening to the same pop songs over and over like most of my friends, I was listening to something with substance. Something with true power and meaning. I still feel that way today. My favorite songs don't fade out over two months. I don't hear a song and forget about it. Music is only music when it speaks. The same pop song repeated over and over on Kiss 108 doesn't make a lasting impact; the loud roar you may hear now is going to be a blip of yesterday when tomorrow comes. Music is a realm of self-expression, not a world of "Oh, I won't listen to them since they wear white belts," in the words of Frank Iero. Haha. Where was I, anyways? Holiday! Yes. That's it. Everyone should hear this song; it's a great piece.

I should really be doing my DuPont thing. Shittt. Never wait until the last minute, kids, it just grinds your brain into a stew.
