On Windows 7

Jan 23, 2013 12:33

I haven't been forced to use Windows 7 until today. I'm finding that, scratching at the surface, it's not that bad, though I haven't really done anything with it other than install software and download updates. I'm not yet willing to say that it's amazing, but I've started to like the way some of it works, even if it is plagued with its legacy.

Isn't it Windows 8 that's the new one? I get so confused with so many different Windows..

This is why there's one Mac to rule them all.

Yes, Windows 8 is the latest version of Windows. It was released late last year.

Your confusion should be a bit less soon given that Windows has removed all other operating systems from the market so the consumers are forced to use windows 8. It's stupid, retarded and made me so mad when I realized it that I would have actually considered buying a Mac had I not been given a Windows 8 laptop for Christmas.

All of that aside, I own a version of Windows XP so if push came to shove I could revert back, but it would be short lived since there are supposedly no updates available for the earlier versions to further force the consumers to do the bidding of the stupidness otherwise known as Windows.

That's very nefarious of Windows! I had no idea they were being so mean about people using other operating systems.

Yups. Information gathered from Dad. I'm personally more obsessive about my guns than my computer OS... Dad, being a geek and loving his precious Dell's went on a 'man hunt" so to speak when I initially complained about the programming Dell requires one to keep in ones system in order to make it work etc. and he realized apparently that they've taken all other OS's off the market in the process of looking for the reasoning behind Dell's actions. Two separate issues, tied together only because Dad went searching.

Your Dad should get a Mac.

He has no interest, or money for said Mac at this time. Someday, when he has a ton of money I'm sure he would consider it...

I've never had a ton of money and I've bought four Macs.

You also don't have 4 kids, + two extensions of two of your kids, + the sister of your son-in-law, two horses, 4 dogs, 5 cats, 1 wife living in your house, depending on you; while also being responsible for keeping your transportation business afloat.

** Btw We've begun branching out into other things needing transportation, such as scrap metal and so forth to keep the business in the black until we start seeing the income increase from the business expansion.

In fact my husband hates the new windows so badly he is threatening to strip his laptop down to Linux and work entirely in that format. He is of course smart enough to do so, but I think it would be unwise as he doesn't have the patience to brush back up on his linux work
