Theater J is located at 1529 Sixteenth Street NW, Washington, DC 20036 - off the Dupont Circle stop on the Red Line.
Take the Chinatown Bus round-trip from NY for $35: http://www.chinatown-bus.com/
Just a note, October 19th is National FREE Night of Theater. Most theaters in DC are participating, so you can basically see any show you want for free. Reservations for this evening are being coordinated through http://www.LOWT.org, so please visit that site if you want to attend.
