hi. how've you been?
me? i've been okay.
what's new, you ask?
well, let's see:

first, there's work. work is the same as it's always been. i'm still in training, and because of the transfer from my initial project to this one, i've been in training continuously for six weeks, and still have two more to go. i'm planning to put in for an internal job that is off the call floor because i don't know how much more of this kind of thing i can stomach. the open position is a low stress, medium responsibility position that i know i'd love. can't beat that.

then there's home. hubby & i went yesterday and got ourselves our first salt lake city apartment. it's technically our first apartment together because at our last place, i was the only one on the lease and he was just "staying with me for a little while". the place is great, it's tons bigger than our last place, the rent is amazingly affordable and we got some great move-in specials (also: walk-in closet!!). no deposit, $200 moves you in, our december rent will only be $100, and our friends spencer & lacy get a $300 referral bonus which they are generously splitting with us. we're moving in on the 19th, and i'll be glad to be living on our own again. staying with tony was great & i definitely appreciate his hospitality, but no married couple should live with someone else. it's just weird. i'll also be glad to be able to do crazy amounts of furniture shopping. i love moving into a new place and getting to buy all kinds of great new things for it.

then there's the other thing. i've been debating when to let this news out for some time, but it was only yesterday that i realized that most everyone knows already. we initially wanted to wait to start telling folks, but excitement got the best of us, and it trickled out. first to our families, then to close friends, then to coworkers, and now to the world:

we're having a baby.
and despite all the plagues of early pregnancy, i am still just as excited as ever. in telling our families, my dad was the most excited by far. it probably had something to do with the fact that jake's parents have seven grandkids already (number eight is due next month), but my dad will be a grandpa for the first time. without going into details, let me just say that all the changes that go on in your body to make a baby, even this early, are nothing less than amazing.

come july, baby makes three :)
