Hey there. It's been a while, hasn't it? Does anybody still read this thing?
I'm in the US for 2 weeks, visiting my family and saving some cash. Heading back the first week of September to get ready for the massive blowout party at a major sporting arena for the new class. I gotta say, they're pretty cool. I also organised an easy way for them to get to know people, and the result was that they all wanted to buy me beer. I like these people. We will be friends.
Other than that, I've decided to try my hand at getting a job in consulting. For those of you who are not familiar with this particular arena, consulting jobs are hard to come by and pay you, to use a technical term, "out the ass". They travel every week and make BANK. It is for people who work too hard, love to travel, and love wearing fabulous clothes. This sounds like the job for me. So wish me luck- I'm even doing some networking while I'm home to get some tips on how to make this happen. I'm not sure how it will work being in a different country- apparently it is "easy" to get a job in the US for me (compared to the UK), which I find laughable given the state of our economy. But we shall see what happens.
My mom and I had a talk last night about where I should be. She (rightly) pointed out that it has been my life's ambition to travel and get OUT of my hometown, which is interesting since now- as I plan my future- I seem somewhat convinced that I will be betraying my family if I don't live next door. What can I say, I'm a complicated creature. Anyway, my mom assures me that if I live in a bunch of different places, this is natural and she wants it. My mom is the coolest. I said, "but what if I settle somewhere far away" and her response was, "what, they don't have airplanes anymore?!" in what I must confess was a rather judgy tone.
I love my mom.
So I feel better about the whole thing. Still a bit guilty being away from my grandparents, since they're sick and actively engaging in old people's guilt to keep me in the US. We'll tackle that issue at a later date. Much later. Yes...
