[The dreamberry clicks on, and the face of the man that peers into it is excited...Though if one looks closely, there is a fresh, spreading bruise across one of his temples. He had a bit of a run-in with a malicious scarecrow.

Still, his excitement is unmistakable.]

Goodness, is this--

It is recording my voice, isn't it? But such a device has only ( Read more... )

It is a fascinating little device, isn't it? I didn't quite understand it either, when I first arrived in this place.

It's powered by something called a 'battery' which typically combines two or more cells full of electrically charged chemicals in order to produce a current.

A communications device? That's incredible! How such a small device can transmit something like our voices--

...A 'battery'? How utterly fascinating! Do you know where I might find one of these batteries? I would prefer to avoid taking this device apart before discovering all of its functions...

Oh, it can transmit much more than just our voices. As you can see, there's also video and um.... it can also record other things, I'm afraid. [Like dreams, but Hakkai doesn't like that feature at all.]

You should be able to find a battery in the nearest store. They're pretty much everywhere. Stores that sell general merchandise, groceries, and drug stores all have them.

It can transmit more than just voices? But of course, if it is advanced enough to transmit sound, why not images or even more?

Ah, really? I'll have to find one, then! The best way to learn about something is to experience it first-hand, after all.

[He pauses. And then realizes something.]

Oh. You wouldn't happen to know where we are, perhaps?

The place is called Somarium, and-- from what I've heard-- it's a dream world of some sort.

A...dream world?

But is it formed from our dreams as a whole, or is it a world that is powered by dreams? Or, perhaps, we have somehow made our way into a single person's dream, though how such a thing would be possible is--

If I had to make an educated guess, I would say... it's probably a world powered by dreams.

I don't have any information about how this place came to be, but I do know that people often enter it while sleeping, or-- in some cases-- after death.

It also seems that when we dream here a charge of some sort is generated, and it can be used as a currency of sorts. Although, I'm not entirely certain how it works.

Dreams as an energy source and currency? Fascinating! There's so much potential in something like that, if dreams could indeed be harnessed...

And that is why this world is called a dream world?

Yes, well... I'm still studying it, myself. I really haven't been here all that long.

You are? Oh, but that's great! Perhaps we should collaborate; it might be possible to reach a reasonable conclusion if we pool our resources and test the theory.

Yes, I'm sure that if we're both working on it together we could find more accurate information. A second set of eyes never hurts.

Exactly! It is a pleasure to be working with you, ...

It's Hakkai, Cho Hakkai. And your name is...?
