And good riddance, 2009!
I spent the night at home, drinking beer and watching silly caught-on-video type shows in between attempts to get through the eighth
Abelson-Sussman lecture (corresponding to
Section 4.4 in The Wizard Book, if anyone cares), and watching Tami's chihuahua, Precious. Yeehaw, what an exciting life I lead.
Who is Tami, you ask? She's my father's current primary girlfriend. She lives in Tennessee, but is here for the week, and they are at a weekend party right now. She got to meet Jim, Elise and Macy on Christmas Day, as well as Elise's family, and everyone seems to agree that she's a nice person and a Good Influence on Dad. She's about 10 years older than I am, and seems a quiet, thoughtful person; she has two sons, Cory and Jared (ages 26 and 17, respectively, IIRC), whom I have not met but who seem to like Dad well enough from the sound of it. She is an LPN, but mostly works private care rather than in a hospital or clinic, and has had some trouble finding work this past year; she just got a position working for a child who needs nursing assistance in school, starting next week, but if that doesn't work out long-term she may end up moving in over here.
On an unrelated note, the Holiday Ale seems to have been a fair success. I have a ginger-lime mead in the fermenter right now, brewed up on Christmas Eve before going to dinner with Jim, Elise and her family. It's still bubbling pretty vigorously, so I probably will wait until tomorrow at least to rack it into the secondary fermenter. I also made two different batches of fudge over the past two weeks, though I ended up eating too much of it myself.
In other news, you know you've been watching too much of
The Smoking Gun Presents - The World's Dumbest when you start having weird metaphorical dreams involving Gary Coleman and the Partridge family bus... No wonder Todd Bridges and Danny Boneduce tried to fry out their synapses (cocaine and heroin were the closest thing to brain bleach which they could find, I guess).
Speaking of brain chemistry, Dr. Thaliath added Abilify to my existing cocktail of happy pills, and while I was a bit hesitant to be taking three different anti-depressants, is does seem to be helping. At the least, it's helping me keep my sleep schedule somewhat more consistent, which should make some difference, and it's supposed to enhance the Wellbutrin/Effexor combination, as well. We'll see.
