Today is world diabetes day, because on Nov. 14th, 1891, Frederick G. Banting was born, the man who discovered insulin and so saved millions of lives, including mine

Because Hubby will have his remaining wisdom teeth taken out on Wednesday, and we still had some KFC vouchers that will be expired when Hubby will be able to fully enjoy crispy chicken filets again, we decided to cash them in on Saturday. On our way to the next KFC, which happens to be in the Rhein-Neckar-Zentrum, a huge shopping centre north of Mannheim, we did a short stop in Heidelberg for some sushi for lunch (hmm!) and bringing some papers to my bank.
I love KFC chicken. They have the most delicious crispy coating I've ever tasted. It's probably good for my weight that there aren't many KFCs in Germany, so we have to drive 65 km to get to the next one. Besides the classics (chicken filets and chicken parts with the wonderful crispy coat) we had fries con carne, which are French fries topped with chili con carne and liquid cheese. Yum! The corn-cobs were ok, but I like them better when Hubby grills them. Third were Meltz - tortillas filled with chicken, sweet chili sauce and tons of cheese. These were delicious too, and can easily be warmed up in a toaster, as we discovered later since we were to full to eat them right away.
Because driving so far just for food seemed a bit decadent, we also did some shopping (I found a nice handbag that has more room than my current mini-rucksack), and we watched Zorro in the movie theatre. A funny movie, but imo the film overdid it a bit in not taking itself seriously sometimes.
Sunday was rather uneventful; the most memorable event of the day was probably dinner. Hubby made chicken curry. We had yellow and red curry paste, so he asked me whether I wanted it hot or not so hot. Because not so hot means quite hot, and hot means 'kills your taste-buds at first contact', I opted for not so hot, and so Hubby used the yellow paste for cooking. Still it turned out way too hot for my liking. I couldn't taste anything besides the chili. Turned out that he had found the paste rather bland, so he had put in the entire! jar to make up for it. Then, when it got warm, the hotness suddenly exploded...
I only managed to eat one small bowl of it, and I needed tons of Naan bred to get it down and several tissues for my running nose and watering eyes. My stomach got a bit upset about the input too. Hubby promised to be a bit more restrictive with curry paste the next time, but I won't believe it until I see it, because for Hubby, food can't be hot enough.
