Party in Berlin

So Friday came, but instead of driving to Berlin early in the morning, we had to wait until we could get Schnurblecar back, which didn't happen until noon. And I had misunderstood the guy on the telephone when he told me the price for the repair two days before. It wasn't 500 Euro, it was 1500!

But at least Schnurblecar is running smoothly again now, and it even needs less diesel. They said something about half a liter less on 100 km, so with the current fuel prices, I only have to drive about a quarter million kilometers to compensate for the repair costs...

Because we started so late, we got stuck in the Friday afternoon traffic, with quite a few traffic jams on our way to Berlin. Initially we'd planned to have Sushi in Berlin, but when we finally arrived at AF's apartment, it was already too late for this. But we still had a funny evening, watching/exchanging pictures from our trips to Moritzburg and Velky Vir.

Saturday was hot and sunny, and we went to Caputh (a small town right outside of Berlin), and rented two pedalos and cruised on a lake for three hours. It was nice, but a bit too long to stay in the sun. Despite using sun blocker, three of the five of us got burned by the sun (both Hubby and I were among the unlucky ones).

In the afternoon we went back to Berlin, helping AF to prepare the food for the party in the evening. AF had received her doctorate and can call herself now Dr. rer. nat., which is a great reason for a party.
The evening was nice and time flew by quickly, and it was already past 1 a.m. when Hubby and I finally left. We drove to Hubby's parents and slept there - it was more comfortable to have real beds, and AF's apartment was full enough with sleeping guests even without us.

We stayed until after lunch, and then drove home, loaded with fresh eggs, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers (fresh and sour) and from Hubby's parents' garden. I also picked a few strawberries and raspberries that were very delicious. The drive home wasn't faster than the drive to Berlin; again we had traffic jams abound and an average speed of ~80 km/h...

It was a wonderful weekend, but why has Berlin to be so far away?
