12 Monate - eine Stadt (Januar: Rathaus)

Wie bereits angekündigt, nehme ich 2012 an einem Fotoprojekt teil. Andy hat eine Webseite eingerichtet, auf der jeden Monat Foto-Freunde aus ganz Deutschland (und EU-Umgebung, wie man sieht) einen bestimmten Aspekt ihres Wohnortes ablichten. Das schien mir eine tolle Idee, denn a) kenne ich viel zu wenig von Deutschland und b) brauche ich wohl doch extrinsische Motivation um meinen neuen Liebling (Canon 1100D) ein wenig mehr auszuführen. Januar stand unter dem Motto: Rathaus.
Endlich bin ich dazu gekommen, unser Rathaus zu fotografieren. Oder eher das, was mir bei meiner ersten Ankunft hier als altes Rathaus verkauft wurde. So ganz bin ich nicht sicher, ob es das jemals war und ob es überhaupt noch irgendeine Funktion erfüllt - es sieht ein wenig nach Gasthaus aus, aber mir war schrecklich kalt, deshalb hab ich nicht genauer nachgeforscht.
Wie schon angedeutet, finden heutzutage Amtliches und Bürgersachen der ‚gemeente’ Nijmegen woanders statt. Im Stadswinkel (wörtlich: Stadtladen) hab ich schon so manche Stunde verbacht, um mich an- und umzumelden. Schickes Haus und kompetente und freundliche Mitarbeiter - so wünscht man sich das. (Und man beachte die allgegenwärtigen Fahrräder...)
As I mentioned earlier, I’m participating in a photography project in 2012. Andy set up a website, where each month people from all over Germany (and the rest of Europe) post a picture about a certain aspect of the city they live in. That seemed like a great idea because a) I haven’t been to a whole lot of places in Germany and b) apparently I need some extrinsic motivation to work a little more with my new baby (Canon 1100D).
I finally managed to take a picture of our city hall. Or what they told me when I got here 1.5 years ago is the old city hall. I’m not really sure if it that's true or if it serves any function whatsoever nowadays - looks like a restaurant of sorts to me, but I was terribly cold, so I didn’t really feel like finding out more.
Official civil affairs concerning the ‚gemeente’ Nijmegen are dealt with elsewhere. I’ve spent countless hours in the Stadswinkel (lit.: town shop) to get registered and such. It’s a stylish building and so far the employees have been very nice and quite comptenet - that’s how it should be and yet rarely is. (Of course, note the ubiquitous bikes.)
