ISSAC! MIRIA!

Honestly people, go watch "Baccano!"

I know that a couple of my friends are already saying that they've begun watching it or intend to watch. I absolutely, 100000% recommend investing time into it. I'm pretty picky when it comes to anime/manga, so, most of the time when I say something is good, it's GOOD.

So here's the basis of the whole story (seeing as most comments on it were "I'm confused..." or "I like it, but, I don't understand") and I thought I might clear it up a bit, seeing as I did not feel like it was too hard to follow, though I definitely see how people can get lost.

It starts off with a little girl named "Carol" (Kaariru) taking books out of a bookshelf and reading them. An older man (whom Carol calls "Vice Director"), Gustav St-Germain comes in and confronts her on it. She asks about the story of a horrific accident on a train named: "The Flying Pussyfoot" (a fucking hilarious name, I know...I couldn't keep a straight face whenever it came up) in the early 1930's. This is probably the point of confusion...because the man asks her why she would start there when the real story started in the 1700's.

Anyways, throughout the series there are MANY switches between different eras and different, closer points in time. It's hard to follow at points because you'll see a character one place, then it'll switch over to you seeing them elsewhere. Another point where people might have some difficulty understanding is when they repeat parts that were already shown...perhaps people skip over that and miss what's going on? I don't really know, but it's crucial to watch ALL of the episode to understand, because when they replay parts, sometimes they follow a different character than before.

Getting back to the actual show now...I think I'll introduce you to the characters you'll run into:

Issac and Miria
So along the way we meet two very eccentric characters: Issac Dian and Miria Harvent. Excitable, partners in crime, lovers and inseparable (which is why they're being grouped together). They are petty thieves at first, but then they start to expand...they have some amusing get-ups as well [like disguising themselves as Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb (see image above), or in tribal Native American outfits]. Truly, they are comic relief characters, but, they aren't those random ones that pop in, make a joke, then leave. They're in the forefront a lot, making them more like main characters, though, according to Gustav / Vice Director, there aren't any main characters.

Firo Prochainezo
(He's the character I fangirl over)
Firo is part of the Camorra (mafia-like organization)...which you wouldn't really imagine at first because he looks so young and has such a cute face. He is friends with the Gandor family and Claire Stanfield. He's a very skilled fighter and is often seen with Maiza Avaro. He has an interest in Ennis (but once I kill her off he won't kekeke >:3 ). Later in the series and in the OVAs, he seems to say "Yahoo!" a lot, so, he's been painted with that being a...catchphrase so to speak.

Nice Holystone
She is one of the most hardcore characters. She gets off to explosions. She has scars all over her body and is missing an eye because she was experimenting and, shocker here, the chemicals in her beaker created an explosive reaction. You find out that underneath her eyepatch, she hides a very small bomb- it's an emergency stash i suppose you could say. She travels with her brother, Nick, their GIANT friend, Donny, and her childhood friend Jacuzzi...They've been "together" for 10 years- Nick teases her about it after Jacuzzi kisses her. (FANGIRL MOMENT- THIS PART. WHEN HE KISSED HER. I CRIED JOY AND PUKED RAINBOWS. SERIOUSLY I YELLED "Happysoul!!" REPEATEDLYYY!!)

Jacuzzi Splot
He comes off as the biggest pansy in the entire world. He cries a lot, is extremely shy, is scared of a lot of things, and stutters when talking to strangers. (Issac and Miria scared the everliving shit out of him...though...they are very...estatic.) But, you find out that he's quite the man, man. A member of his gang was killed, so, he went on to rob a record number of neighborhoods. Anyways, he's really caring and would do anything to make sure those other than himself are happy. For example, after Nice's accident, he went out and got a "sword tattoo" on his face to make his face "distigused as well." He really puts everyone before himself- even people he just met.

Uhh...I'll give you more tomorrow...it's like 6am...I'll also edit this...I just wanted to post it so it wouldn't be lost in the void of my mind.
