May 2 = Bogotá Bound!
Remember how I mentioned the immigration piece that could take up to seven weeks? And how I was hoping for a month? Check out these dates from a little form I received from immigration today:
Receipt Date: 3/26/2012
Provisional Approval Date: 4/9/2012
Two weeks and a few days in the mail!! That is amazing! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. They worked!!
Jill from Crossroads (the adoption agency) called me at work today to let me know. I was stunned and said excitedly "Are you serious?!?!? I wasn't expecting that for another two weeks!" And I must have said it pretty loudly too, because when I hung up the phone and turned around, my entire team was looking at me with wide, expectant eyes wanting to know what could have caused such a reaction. (I love my team!)
I had decided a while back that the earliest I would leave would be May 2 even if provisional approval came early, and now I can move forward with that as the official departure date! The apartment in Bogotá is already booked for that date - and now I won't have to worry about having to adjust it - and Mom is booking all of our flights tomorrow. I'm even officially flagged as out of office for two months on the calendar at work!
Marcia, one of the awesome
Friends of FANA volunteers helping me through the process, and I had already planned to meet tonight after work and I managed all day to keep myself from texting her the great news so I could tell her face to face. (It was worth it!) She walked me through next steps and tons of travel and adoption process tips. She is the Wikipedia of Colombian adoption. I'm so thankful to be surrounded by such wonderful people!
Just think... I will be able to hug Paula Andréa again on May 3, three extremely short weeks from today! :D
