Woohoo!
I went here first thing this morning (made the appointment yesterday) with a passport application and all of the necessary documents and I will have my passport by Friday. For only $60 above the regular fee. That is amazing! I made sure to ask if I could get my passport number sooner than that and they said I could call on Thursday for sure and that I might even be able to get it by tomorrow. Wow!
As soon as I got to work, I emailed the orphanage to let them know I'd have the number by Thursday at the latest, feeling pretty good that I'd only delayed myself by three days. Then this afternoon they said they could use my old passport number if I had that and then just update it in the system later. My jaw dropped! I HAD THAT! I would have had it with me except the passport office kept my old passport instead of my birth certificate as the proof of citizenship document, so I asked my manager if I could run home because I knew I had the number there.
You know I emailed them back within seconds of getting home and now they have what they need. My procrastination only delayed me by one day!! (This time. Haha.) If what I was told on Monday is right, I might have the official referral tomorrow!! I could actually be in Colombia in less than two months!
