so the other thing this co-op does

is presentations. each kid has to give a short talk on a given topic each time we meet (except, well, divided up by first letter of last name, 1/3 of the students get each week off. we we're on 2 weeks, off one.)

so this last week, linus's group had to talk about a favorite saint. he wanted to choose saint Linus, which was ok because even though we know exactly 2 things about him, we were able to stretch that info into 4 sentences, which is about all they expect from the first and second graders.

so after some girl gives two sentences about saint elizabeth and then says that's all she knows, her mom was telling her about her, linus gets up and gives his little spiel:

I'm talking about Saint Linus. He's my favorite saint because his name is the same as mine. he was the second pope. his feast day was last month.

then the teacher asks if there's any questions. I'm like, I hope not, because that's all he knows. but one little girl raises her hand. her question: so, like, was he talking about a pope or something? he yells YES. then another boy's hand goes up: what was his name? "LINUS". and that was that.

so, um, it's a good thing they listen as well as they speak?

kids, catholic, linus
