I have been inducted into the wisdom tooth removal club

Feb 10, 2010 20:58

let me start by saying that my top ones came in straight, and my bottoms ones don't exist, and never did. so I thought I was off the hook with getting teeth pulled. then I went for a check up/cleaning/whatever, and.... cavity in my left wisdom tooth! so of course we decide to pull it rather than fix it. I mean, why fix a tooth you don't really need?

I wasn't too worried aobut the actual removal, since, you know, drugs and what not. but feared that when the drugs wore off I'd be in pretty bad pain. not so. the worst part, honestly, was the soreness of my cheek from constantly using it to shove the gauze back into place. and the not eating because trying to eat around a huge chunk of gauze isn't very appetizing. but I was afraid to eat without it in place because I was afraid of food getting stuck in the Hole of Doom.

the second day (that being today) I said heck with the gauze. I tried eating only on my right side. it kind of worked. at one point when I was sucking food out of The Hole I got this crazy deja vu feeling. but... how so?! this is my first extraction! oh, wait...this is exactly what it was like when my 12-year molars fell out (or rather, when my 2-year molars fell out to make room for the 12-year ones). so. all this fear over something I'd been there done that. oh well. maybe I'll get the other one taken out just for fun (or maybe so I don't have to get back there to brush it anymore). but I'll do it on Good Friday or something so I have a better excuse not to eat anything all day.

teeth, health, ouch, me
