namely, an evening spent in the emergency room!
first let me tell you that LINUS IS A BIG FAKER so you're not all worried about the outcome of the story.
we were playing at the park and he started crying and complaining about his arm. I hadn't seen anything happen, so I figured it was minor and after a nap he'd forget all about it. stuck him in the stroller and he was asleep before we got home.
he probably slept for an hour and a half and by the time he woke up, chris was home. well, there was no change in the arm situation. he refused to move his right arm and cried if you touched it or asked him to move it. chris suggested it could be dislocated so we took him in.
he didn't move it while we saw the first nurse, got x-rays (which I didn't even get to see. lame!) or talked to a doctor, but by the time the results of the x-rays came back (normal) he was running around, using both arms/hands, and even bashing himself into walls and laughing about it! so yeah, I was a little embarrassed by then but they did say a partial elbow dislocation can pop itself back into place if the arm is turned the right way, but who knows if that was even it. we were sent home with instruction to give otc painkillers if needed.
now I feel like I wasted a trip to the ER and next time when it's something serious, I'll be hesitant to go in so I don't end up the parent whose kid is always in the emergency room. *sigh*
