Marketing's bitch.

Ok, so I do my darnedest to avoid getting hooked by marketing ploys but this one was too difficult to resist.

Over at The Simpsons Movie website you can design a Simpsons-esque character. My ego is too vain (and my id too shy to express original thought) to allow for any outcome other than a caricature of yours truly ( Read more... )

television, web, internet, nerdy, movies

They sure sucked you in. Understandable though, I caved too.

Noticed you friended me, and was more than happy to friend back upon seeing you're interested in Chomsky, Shaun Micallef and astrophysics. I was always irritated that they never taught us about black holes in high school science class!

I thought about posting somewhere on your blog to let you know who I actually am but half the fun of LJ is trying to work that stuff out. (You do realise we have met, yes?)

And though I have obviously listed things I like amongst my interests, those you have chosen are three of my favourites. Glad you approve.

Haha sounds like an intriguing game - Name That Stalker!

I'm not sure; I asked Christian and we were both pretty sure I never ended up meeting you. That and I think I'd have remembered you, based on the sort of personality that presents in your LJ.

We did meet many a year ago but only once or twice. I think it was at Christian's birthday party. Either 21 or 22, I believe. Back in the day, I was a shadow; reticent and easily overlooked. That's not a self-pitying statement; I was deliberately this way. I also had a pony-tail.
You, on the other hand, were ... um ... how does one say ... more pleasing to notice? ... easier on the eye? ... a bresh of fresh air? ... a storm in a tea-cup?

Okay, so not that last one.

Either way, I hope it's not another eight years before we meet again.

Nope ;) You've mistaken me for someone else, Ian. I was 14 when Christian was 21 and we didn't start going out til I was 18 (much to the satisfaction of the police and my parents I'm sure).

So no such meeting has yet to take place. But I'm enjoying your journalistic forays very much!

Oh dear. This IS embarrassing.
OH NO! What if you hold a low opinion of the person I must be mistaking you for? Um...

I'll be ... ah ... over in the corner blushing awkwardly ...

I'm actually dying to know WHO you mistook me for :D

And you want to talk about awkward? One time during sex I called Lois "Frank". Your move, Sherlock.

If this continues, we may have to trade IM handles...

In the meantime, my one trump card is: On the night I lost my virginity, I forgot the fair lass' name.

It was years before I found out that this is surprisingly common. That whole thing about "blood draining from the head" has some scientific evidence. Also, with the hormones, the blood pressure, the excitement ... I am surprised I could actually talk, let only confessing to, "I remember your middle name but not your first..."

Now that's a good story. The scientific backing to what might otherwise be written off as the very pinnacle of chauvinism is convenient ;) But well done, I think you may have beaten Peter Griffin out on that one.

I should've asked earlier; so who is/was Frank?
