Just a short update for now ...
Things will most likely be going through a few more changes here in Zipperland in the near future, and there will definitely be more frequent updates. In the meantime here's some of what's been going on in the land of the Mighty R --
~ A third record ( as of yet untitled ) is nearing completion ...
~ The first two ( Dead Rockets / Red Glare, and the Emma Jane E.P. ) are finished and hopefully by early to mid summer will be free to download at ...
~ ... a new website for all things R is underconstruction, though I'll likely keep this blog as active as I'm able ( likely linking here from the site etc )
~ For the first time in an extremely long time I'm scared to death at the prospect of touring later in the year. If all goes well what I'll be doing is a couple of mini-tours on the east coast in August / September, and then a longer tour across to the west coast in October / November.
~ Silent Hill looks to be quite promising ... most definitely one of the best game to film adaptations I've seen to date - at least from all of the clips / trailers I've seen for it they seem to have stayed truer to the original material than any of the adaptations that have been released in the past few years. Go see it this weekend !!
Horror films are the best !!
~ My sex life has been pathetically non-existant for a while now.
~ My sex drive has been 'quite' stong as of late, which when combined with the above tends to = frustration.
~ If I believed in such a concept, I'd likely say something like - "Lord knows" I could use the kind of stress relief that only a really good intimate encounter can provide after the winter I've had ...
~ I'm still painting as much as ever, though my relationship with art in general has been going through one of those subtle shifts again that are a bit hard to explain. As it goes I'm not one of those artists who considers things like painting etc. to be something for the rich elite alone to enjoy, and I surely don't think that most art produced today is automatically amazing for no other reason than someone made it. I always hated that mindset even when in college that you can't talk about art or whatever any differently than you'd talk about a dirty sock on the floor. One person might say " What a great sock, I love argyle !!" and another one might say "Wow, that sock really stinks !!" You know ? At the end of the day it's still just a dirty sock, just like a painting is just a painting. It's either got some remarkable quality and deserves praise or it doesn't. Of course there's the whole 'eye of the beholder' blah blah, but really ... a BMW costs boat-loads of money because of A) Cost of engineering research B) Cost of manufacture and C) The brand name. A painting costs thousands of dollars typically due to C alone, and unless it's so ground-breakingly original that it transcends all other artwork produced today ( and truthfully it's been years since I've seen anything that made me say 'wow') I can't help but ask "so where's the motor?" You know?
~ Three visits from family members are happing in the next month and a half -- either I've suddenly become everyone's favorite relative, they all know something I don't know (perhaps I'm secretly going to die soon but everyone forgot to tell me), or it's the usual "he's looking too pale / thin lately and hasn't been talking much .. something must be wrong!" kind of visit.
~ Really, everything is fine, and no mom I'm not secretly smoking crack or whatever, just been going through mild to sever depression yet again. Nothing new.
( even as far back as highschool if I ever got depressed my mom was always positive I simply MUST be addicted to 50 different drugs depending on what the 'buzz drug' on CNN was at the time )
~ Ummm .. did I mention how utterly horny I've been lately ? Yep, I suuure have.
