my weekend
SOOOOO
went up to montclair this weekend. had a lil party at steph's place, kat made her world famous brownies and steph make kickarse cookies. we stayed at jacks and the next morning i got to go visit NYAA (new york academy of art)
i was VERY dissapointed. I expected really high caliber work (esp from the professors)and I saw a lot of modern art crap. And the facilites really sucked considering tuition is 19,000. I mean, 2nd year grad students should at least have their own work space for that price. I had a review of my work and the guy was not helpful at all, and truthfully I didnt like the slides of his work they showed. It was very pop.
I am looking for a traditional art education, i want to learn the craft of painting...not just "paint from my imagination". I thought this school would be much better.
so that leaves me with a) Italy or b) Philly. The down side is they cost a lot of money and you dont get a masters degree. or maybe i should just keep painting on my own. its hard to do it alone.
Anyway, today we went to the montclair book store and amazon cafe, then hung out for a while and drove home. unfortunately i got the migraine from hell, and spent most of the evening in agonizing pain. i think i may have to go to the doctor because i pretty much get a migraine every month, and this one was the worst one yet. unfortunately i dont have health care, so that really sucks.
thats about it, cant wait for thanksgiving and grandmas cooking.
