It's been a while since I've updated so I figured it was time.

Hondo has been doing really great and has gotten a plethora of praise from his teachers, he finished school this year as one of the most improved kids in his class and was accepted to a program called "Summer Scholars" - somewhat of a summer school but except for being for kids who are behind. It's for kids who have show extra effort as a kind of reward program where they do all sorts of fun hands on activities in and out of the school with different activites planned almost every day. He also got the #1 score in math out of his entire class. There are definitely still some issues to work on but he's come a very long way and we are utterly proud of him.

Been a busy summer already with trips to two burns both Flipside in TX and Apogaea here in CO under our belt. Spent 4 weekends in a row camping already.

The trip to Austin and Flipside was a ton of work and more of an exorsize in project and time management than it was a vacation. But still alot of fun all the same. I easily remembered why I hadn't attempted heading up a large theme camp since 2002. Although seeing the 50ft pirate ship complete with a poop deck, ships wheel, bowsprit, two 30ft sails and fire cannons was a pretty amazing sight to behold. Our small crew in Texas really kicked @ss and were a pleasure to work with while many of the 20 Colorado people were total slackers. Helped let me know who I could count on and who I couldn't.

Got to rock the tower again and played God Within - Raincry during a downpour which was pretty spectacular as well. Another really special memory was heading down to the river late one night with our fire gear and spinning on the shore of the water deep in a canyon in silence while a lone soul lit floating wooden lanterns that hung in the air and guided them around the pools on a thin string lighting up the cliff faces.

But the best memory so far this summer has to be at Apogaea when during a small rainstorm Saturday afternoon we had lightning strike a tree less than 15 feet from our truck. Pretty intense. Left spiral burn scars on the tree. Which was followed by a gorgeous double rainbow over the phoenix effigy. Also got to DJ a set during the conclave performance and the efffigy burn.

The weekend was also filled with tough times and difficult decisions. Having to eject someone (a friend) from the event for rumors which we will never know to be true or false but had to err on the side of caution for the safety of our festival goers.

These adventures have left me pretty empty on the the energy levels, not to mention the financial levels and therefore I'll probably be skipping a few other festivals we'd hoped to hit this summer here in Colorado in order to take my baby to Vegas and her first ever Burning Man.

Mentally I find myself in a comfortable place, and yet still lacking very much on the inspiration which has driven so much of my life. Seeking out inspiration usually yields more frustration than anything else. At least as I understand Buddhist teachings. Along these lines I give you a quote from a song I've been playing an aweful lot lately:

"There's a force in the universe
that makes things happen
all you have to do is get in touch with it
stop thinking....and let things happen"

I feel like I've been somewhat out of touch with that force lately. And I'm not really sure what I can do to get back in touch with it. I can admitantly say that the weight of the world and the plethora of responsiblities I have (both chozen and not), certainly have a negative impact. Lamenly put - stress. Managing it can sometimes be a difficult task.

I certainly appreciate everything I have especially my amazing woman. Of course there is always the doubt in me which wonders what I ever did to deserve such a phenominal person in my life to share all these crazy adventures with. But for now I just say thanks.

Namaste
