Since I am the ward church publications representative and I have no idea what that means, I decided the first step I should take towards magnifying that calling is actually reading the church publications. So, this morning I was allotted a few minutes before school (thanks to pop who woke me up too early because his clock was wrong) and decided to read an article. It was entitled "young single adults and marriage". There were a few points that really stuck out to me, because I am single and since all of my siblings are married I feel like I have to rush to get married...I feel like thats the next step for me. Here are some things people suggested:
- "Use opportunities to pursue educational and professional goals, develop talents, pursue hobbies, and serve in the church and community."
- "When [we] align [our] will with the Lord's, He [is] able to do what he does best: bless us beyond our current understanding."
- "Keep an eternal perspective and enjoy the fruits of each season of life."
- "It is a mistake to believe that life begins only upon marriage. You must feel that you have something to offer whether you are single or married. Look at the areas of your life you have control over, such as your appearance, attitude, and treatment of others."
- "Set goals."
- "Expect someone roughly equal to what you have to offer."
- "I learned that if I would trust in the 'due time of the Lord,' all would be well. I felt peace, and I was given the strength to get busy with other things in my life while I relied on Heavenly Father's timing."
So, this is pretty much just what I needed to hear. And I've made some goals for myself. Some are pretty lame, but I am really excited to get started.

Sign up to be a Daughter of the American Revolution. We found out a few months ago that I am related to Peyton Randolph, I think? The president of the First Continental Congress. DAR's have a meeting once every month and participate in community service. I think this would be so exciting and different! And Something I could talk about on a date. Also, it makes me feel patriotic and greatful to live in a free country, all politics aside.

Plant a garden. This is something I've wanted to do since I was a little baby. I never thought it would be okay with my mom, since she's always talking about selling the house (and how the backyard shouldn't be tampered with), but we've lived in the same house for over eight years now, I really dont think we're going anywhere any time soon. I want to grow tomatoes, squash, basil, potatos, blackberries, and corn. And maybe some type of flower, since I love those. My mom says its okay, finally.

Paint my room a new color. A new color besides WHITE and BEIGE, which is what its always been. I was thinking about yellow, or light, light pink. A textured wall would be fun too.

Find a job. I've applied to World Market, Target, Aaron Brothers, and Chase. Food is really my last resort. I know this guy in my ward who works for Chase and is putting in a good word for me. We tried this last month too at a different location and it didn't work. Chase pays its tellers 10 dollars an hour. I could buy a month's gym membership in less than 4 hours of work. Or I could buy three Revlon tweezers.

Today in government some people were talking about Jesus action figures and saying some crude things that really offended me. I didn't say anything. :( Oh well.
