MTV bans 'Telephone'. Few people notice. But serious faces now people, let's do a poll (yes, another one). Why did MTV (bother to) ban the video (considering it doesn't actually air videos)?

View poll: lolbanned!

The ~shocking video can be found under the cut, for all two of you who haven't seen it yet. ( Read more... )

MTV Latino (which we apparently get at home through cable, I dunno) didn't ban this video, in fact they aired it at like 2 PM the other day. Right after the new Gorillaz video (which rocks, by the way.)

MTV LA airs more videos than the US version yet still airs less than the other music channels we get (VH1 Latino, Ritmoson, and I forget what else.)

That's interesting. Is MTV LA aired in the US as well as other countries?

But SHIT that Gorillaz video is awesome. I need to go back and watch it fullscreen.

MTV LA is aired all over South America, but there's three different satellite feeds depending on the region.

Apparently Mexico has its own channel. Who knows if the other ones still air the video.

And yeah that Gorillaz video is insane. I was NOT expecting the computer animated characters... or friggin' BRUCE WILLIS.

I've downloaded the song and have it on repeat. But seriously, what a fantastic video. The CG (I'm assuming it's CG...) is great, and the editing tight. I love when the sky goes black. Also, Willis' campy performance is so fun.

I'm fairly sure that it's a combination of motion capture and CG. Whoever did the work on that did a FANTASTIC job with the character expressions.

Yes, I was struck by that too.

I meant to ask - does MTV LA generally air more risque content? I find that American television is... surprisingly gun shy, even in comparison to Canadian tv. So not what you'd expect, right?
