The future of Scans Daily (yes there is one)

First off, it's been wonderful to see you all come together. You guys did a great job of linking up my info post. Keep linking. There are already enough rumors, we don't want to encourage their spread. The other reason I want you guys to keep linking, is that I want to give as much of the membership as possible, a chance to connect with each other ( Read more... )

Kurt Busiek has also made comments of support - here.

Once we've gotten things into a holding pattern, we should look into Dreamwidth, I think. I don't suppose any s_d member has an in with the internal beta, or knows one of the people who makes Dreamwidth run? It would be great to talk to them and find out whether a new, improved s_d could find a home there.

I'm all about Dreamwidth too. :) I think I'll message synecdochic directly about it.

Dreamwidth? Whuzzat? I'd check for myself, but my internet connection is incredibly slow and I'm literally waiting several minutes for a single page to load...

Dreamwidth. A new and improved journaling service that's in beta right now. It's run by experienced professionals, some of them former lj employees, most of whom are big geeks, or active members of fandom.

I'm going to get in contact with one of the project leaders, to see how they feel about IPR, but I think they might be a solution for us. They're big supporters of fan made content, such as vidding, which is another grey area.

Or I can wander by before you get a chance to :)

Y'all would be perfectly welcome at Dreamwidth. We can talk about what kind of posting guidelines would make it easiest for us to say "we hold that this isn't a copyright violation and therefore we reject your complaint" to any content creator who complained to us, but even as-it-was, you would still be welcome.

If we receive a complaint of copyright infringement, there are certain steps the law requires us to take, but we will be very clear about what they are. (I got into that on the mailing list a while back.)

You're awesome. Very awesome.

(If there's a way to -restore- the old entries then that would rock too!)
