A Belated Intro.......
Hi! My nom-de-guerre is queen_golgo_13. I have heard of From Eroica with Love awhile back from Aestheticism website. Unfortuantely, at the time, I couldn't obtain any From Eroica with Love mangas and even now, the Japanese version of the series is hard to get. Recently I purchased several volumes of the series published by CMX, and I must say that it was absolutely delightful! The plot may seem outlandish but its very satirical. Add some violence, the Major's infamous cantankerous outbursts, humor, Eroica's flamboyant behavior, James' exagerrating frugality, Agent G's crossdressing, and so forth.....you have a classic series for the ages.
My favorite character is simply obvious......the grand Major Klaus. I simply love his cantankerous outbursts, uptightness, and his delicate tinge of humor. I think he's strong-willed, iron fisted, and sensitive-which that aspect of his personality is rarely seen by those who know him best. I do like all of the characters except for the teenagers and the annoying detective in Volume 1. Honestly, I think the series starts in Volume 2.
I hope the community enjoys the postcard images (or envelopes) illustrated by Yasuko Aoike herself of Klaus, his butler, Eroica, and James. The first image is of my beloved Klaus with his needed cigarette playing the piano and his butler is watchin in the background. I wonder what the mighty Major is playing?? Bach? Beethoven? Strauss? The second image is that of Eroica playing the acousitc guitar with James playing the tamborines. Eroica simply looks like a hippie from the Sixties.
