Klaus's Genealogy?

Apr 29, 2010 16:05

Has anyone delved into the mirky waters of Klaus's genealogy? As I'm new to the fandom, I might have missed something in either canon or past discussions, but as far as I know, what we know is that:

1) Klaus's family is from a minor branch of the Hapsburgs
and
2) Tyrian Persimmon is an ancestor

Correct?

Now, saying that Klaus is from a junior line of the Hapsburgs is like saying my grandmother was a Morgan from Wales - i.e., at one time, 3/4 of European royalty (major and minor) was related in some way to the Hapsburgs. Odds are that he's from the more recent House of Habsburg-Lorraine since his (Klaus's) line is recent enough (genealogically speaking) for the family to still be noted as descending from the Hapsburgs. However, equally possible are the Senior Spanish line (because of Tyrian) or the junior Austrian line (the more prolific of the branches).

Has there been any speculation?

The reason I'm curious is that I'm writing an AU set during the late 1700s, and I'm trying to figure out where exactly to place our beloved Major within the political framework of that time period. Any thoughts or links would be appreciated!
