GHAA!! O_O *dies*

...I really think you need to post warnings on your pics. "WARNING: insanely gorgeous artwork under the cut; may cause heartbeat irregularities. Pregnant women or persons with heart conditions not advised to click." XD
...then again, maybe pregnant women should view your art, in the hope that their kids will turn out as handsome as that. Is that superstition still current in the Western world? XD

Anyway, I really admire your skill in translating the manga-style features into a realistic face. You've kept the long face characteristic of Aoike-san's style, even though you're drawing in a different style. I just find that so cool. ^_^

Haha, thanks. :) But if I put an "insanely gorgeous" warning on them, you'd be disappointed when you clicked! So maybe "mildly attractive" would work better. ^ ^

Thank you for you comment on the style. It's not something I usually do. I'm primarily into the sort of portraiture where making things up is kind of a sin. :) So I'm still getting a feel for the fusion. I can't draw manga at all! oO

Thanks!

I would have to say no, as I've never heard of it. (And my son was born 21 years ago.)

Ah, I guess we're just old-fashioned over here, then. XD It must have come over with the Spanish and never left.

I know that it was believed in Europe at one time, because in France in the 1800s the exhibition of Chang and Eng (the original Siamese twins) "was banned on the grounds that they would create monsters by making an evil impression on pregnant women."

Here in the Philippines, educated people in the cities just kind of treat it as a joke, but it can still be said to be "current" because everyone knows about it. And my dad says that one time when he was out in the countryside, a pregnant woman came up to him and touched his nose so that her baby would have Caucasian features like him. XD

I'm just too "fact" oriented, I guess. DNA, genetics, and all that.
I'm very glad that my genes are the dominate ones. My son is the spitting image of my brother. So much so that my mother sometimes calls him by my brother's name. (The only difference is hair color.)

I really like that story about your dad. I love little cultural superstitions/quirks like that.

And since you mention Chang and Eng I do remember reading about the exhibition being banned! I have a book on... er... interesting people somewhere....
