union venting

I don't know if any of you have heard (besides Adam Bowers who obviously has livejournal and goes to BW), but BW has been invaded by 745 new coming freshman. Now to most people that might now seem like much, but for a small liberal arts college who usually only caters to 2000 daytime students, it's A LOT more mouths to feed, and bodies to shelter.

Not only are our dorms filled to capacity, but we also have people who live in temporary housing which isn't very pretty. Also last year, to buy out your room for the semester it only cost $200, now it's up to $600 because of the lack of housing. CRAZY!

Now to the point.

Well this year, instead of having the food already placed out like last year, Baldwin-Wallace College decides to make all the food before you eat it, with few exceptions. This would be a great new way tp prepare food IF there weren't all these new students. Not saying I hate the freshman, I just don't like how there are SOOOO MANY OF THEM!!!

Anyway...

After my 8 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I walk to the union and I get breakfast. I usually have about 45 mins to eat and then get to class which is 5 mins away from the Union so it's not too bad, but today it was.

Well today instead of getting cold cereal and the well known breakfast sandwiches, I decided I wanted to step it up and get pancakes today and a breakfast sandwich. So I'm in the loooong line for the omlette/waffle/ pancake grill and there is only ONE person working the entire grill. ONE PERSON. So I go to grab a breakfast sandwich, and there are only two left, so that means there are not really warm anymore..but since there is only two I grab one.

Then I go back into line and after 5 minutes wouldn't you know they just put out like 8 newly made breakfast sandwiches, so I go to grab one, but of course there are 10 people in front of me, so I don't get to exchange one...great. So I lose my spot in line and I have to go back to the o/w/p line behind two more people...awesome. Then wouldn't you know it happens again 10 mins later..now that's already 15 mins wasted and there's still no food on my tray. Then the only woman working finally asked me what I wanted and I told her two pancakes.

And I love the old ladies that work in the union because they're so sweet, but I just think she was frazzled today because I said I wanted pancakes and then 2 mins later she asked me what I wanted again, after she poured 9 pancakes, and I repeated "2 pancakes please" So finally after 20 mins of waiting for my food I get my pancakes, and there are no new breakfast sandwiches in the bin, so I have to eat the cold one.

Next I go to FINALLY check out my food, and there's 10 people ahead me, and one person working the register. So 5 mins later I'm finally checked out and I go to find a seat and it takes me 2 mins to manuevar around all of the people and all the pulled out chairs from the people who were previously sitting at the tables.

Now I've wasted 27 mins waiting for food, now factor in the 8 minute walk from the Rec center to the Union, we have a total of 35 mins. This means I have 5 mins to eat, and 5 mins to walk to class. Not only do I look like I'm a complete slob while I'm eating, but I don't even get to enjoy my food because I'll be later if I don't scarf it down and get to class.

Way for colleges with not enough living space!!!!...-_-
This is probably the first time I'm actually looking forward to the weekend because NO ONE will be here and I can just get my food without all of this hassle.

Thankfully, the rest of my day was better than that. I hope that with the weekends I'll be able to mellow out enough that the hussle and bussle of the week doesn't get to me.

Sometimes I just get so frustrated by stupid things like that I want a cigarette, and I don't even smoke. If you know me, you know that me wanting a cigarette NEVER happens.

EVER.

Now I'm going to just get some water and change into pj's and just relax.

Later Cats.
